Close to the centre of the ancient Roman city of St Albans, The Manor is set in five acres of beautiful English country gardens, surrounding a lake.
Originally commissioned by the Gape family in around 1512, The Manor was converted into a hotel by the Newling Ward family in the early 1960’s. Whilst it has been updated to the highest standard it retains all it’s richness and historical detail. The 30 bedrooms and superb dining facilities combine a classical style with an informal, relaxed atmosphere.
We have a variety of rooms from an intimate oak panelled 16th century lounge to the Victorian conservatory overlooking the lake and gardens.
Our rooms have taped classical music which you are welcome to personalise. We are more than happy to accommodate live music ie: string quartet, harpist etc and can provide you with a recommended list of musicians.
Due to overwhelming demand, St Michael’s Manor is now available for exclusive use, including all 30 bedrooms.
