Weddings at Carfraemill are relaxed, fun and always totally unique to you. Come to us for our stunning rural spot on the edge of the Lammermuir Hills in the Scottish Borders, our close proximity to Edinburgh (30 mins) and our foodie credentials. We can host weddings of 3 to 300 guests with couples having a choice of locations for their day: our beautiful marquee, a wood-panelled reception room, a country-chic private room and an exclusive site on our hillside farm.

Venues & Ceremonies

Carfraemill provides flexible spaces which can be used individually or together over the course of your day.

Reception room: our wood-panelled reception room has character in abundance and seats up to 140 guests. It has a brilliant dance floor and a full bar area – it’s been designed with weddings very much in mind!

Our beautiful marquee: ideal for larger weddings of between 120 and 300 guests. It’s fully-lined, has a large dance floor, a bandstand and its neutral decor means you can style it however you like. A truly stunning space in which we can help you create a wedding completely unique to you.

We take all of the stress out of organising a marquee wedding by providing all of the essentials: lighting, heating, a state-of-the-art ‘sound ceiling’ system, round tables, upholstered chairs, linen tablecloths, fully fitted bar and catering equipment. With all of this included, it’s also the best value marquee wedding venue in the Scottish Borders!

Private room: our lovely country-chic private room is available for more intimate weddings, seating up to 18 guests.

On the Hill: our exclusive option is to get hitched “On the Hill”, a remote spot on our farm which is a mile from the main hotel. Open skies, incredible views, and complete flexibility to style your day in a marquee, tepee or even a yurt. Just like at our main site, we can take care of all of the essential elements from tent pitching and luxury loos, to tables, chairs, heat, light and of course some rather fabulous local catering! We can also provide a farm barn for you to style as you like, whether for the ceremony or reception.

Fabulous locally-sourced menus
We are self-confessed foodies, and would love to put together something really special for you and your guests. We work with some incredible local suppliers so you can be sure of the best seasonal and farm-to-fork ingredients.
For your wedding breakfast, we can offer relaxed, sharing-style dishes, grown-up buffets and fine dining plates – all to suit your individual tastes.
Your day can stretch well into the wee small hours as our standard late license runs until 1am, and 2am often available on request (marquee until midnight, but guests can dance on through to the main building to continue the party!).

Your Wedding Ceremony
We are licensed for civil and religious ceremonies at Carfraemill and “On the Hill”.

Channelkirk Church, dating from 1817, must have the best views in the whole of the Scottish Borders and it is just 5 minutes away.

Accommodation
Your wedding party and guests can stay in Carfraemill’s ten beautifully-appointed country lodge rooms. Our wedding packages include the bride and groom’s choice of bedroom on their wedding day. We’d also love to have you back to stay on your first wedding anniversary with our compliments!
We also have two fab hillside cottages available which can accommodate a further 8+ guests.
