The most striking historic element in Aylesford is most definitely its particularly fine medieval bridge spanning the River Medway, though archaeologists have discovered some very significant artefacts from far earlier periods in the surrounding countryside. You could add your own vital bit of history to it by holding your wedding here. It’s a nice town that has retained much of its character, thanks to the wealth of older buildings at its heart – with some equally fine ones it has to be said to be seen in the Kent countryside eastwards and westwards.
