Surrey may very possibly be the poshest county in the country, and Cranleigh near its southern edge has a claim to being England’s largest village – with a population of more than 11000 – so you’d not be wrong if you’d expect the place to have excellent amenities within and without, making it far more than a dormitory settlement for nearby Guildford. There’s a real solidity to the place too, no bad characteristic for a wedding venue, evidenced in ancient buildings like St Andrew’s Church and in natural sites like Vachery Pond, whose nesting cranes supposedly are the root of the village’s name.
