The village of Charlwood in the Mole Valley of Surrey is a fine example of the old meeting the new – and getting along well. The old is represented by the many timber framed houses in the settlement, and inevitably by its ancient church, here dedicated to St Nicholas, a building rooted in the Norman age; the new by its proximity to Gatwick Airport. The airport nearby – as with the racecourse that preceded it – means there is no shortage of places to stay, or to enjoy a glass of something, so Charlwood has a history of looking after guests, something worth considering perhaps in your wedding plans.
