Our dedicated wedding venue is York House, located in the grounds of The Talbot and will be exclusively yours on your wedding day.

An impressive 17th century home, York house is steeped in history, not least because it is reputed to be where Charles Dickens resided whilst writing “A Christmas Carol”

Our hometown of Malton has plenty to offer to make your wedding day special and unique. It is lovingly known as “Yorkshire’s Food Capital” and our friendly local suppliers can offer a wealth of special touches to make your day one to remember.

York House is an ideal venue for a unique wedding, filled with fun and laughter.

A stunning 300 year old home standing directly beside The Talbot, York House has its own entrance through a grand doorway into a beautiful reception hall where you and your guests will enjoy drinks and canapés as you arrive. York House is licenced for a Civil Ceremony and perfect for an ‘inside out’ wedding.

After your reception drinks in York House or our stunning grounds, your party will make its way into York House Marquee for the wedding breakfast.

Delightfully deceptive from the outside, The Talbot and York House boast picturesque grounds and gardens behind their imposing structures. The most romantic of settings, it’s hard not to imagine yourself sipping Champagne on the terrace, or walking hand in hand besides the river – a simply stunning backdrop for photographs.

The pretty market town of Malton boasts a host of artisan food producers, most of which feature on our menus. “Groovy Moo” ice cream tubs, Rare Bird Coffee, Blue Bird Bread, Paul Pots famous scotch eggs and so very much more, we are certain that no other venue can personalise your menus as well as we will.

Our wedding menus offer proper Yorkshire portions in a relaxed dining setting, with a focus on more traditional dishes and sharing foods as alternative to a formal wedding menu. Or our head chef can design a bespoke wedding breakfast with your thoughts in mind.

If you’d prefer to forget the formalities, why not recreate those festive family dinners. With great company, perfectly cooked food, and family style service. All our produce comes from Yorkshire with beef reared and aged in Ripon.

For a truly relaxed day, why not consider a sharing platter starter of artisan breads, local cheese and delicious meats and chutneys for everyone to try. Perfectly in-keeping with a vintage style wedding in the York House Marquee.

We have an excess of wonderful ingredients right on our doorstep, seafood from the Yorkshire Coast, THE best ice cream in the county, we are sure we can source and create something that is exclusively yours. After a busy day, what better than to retire to a cosy bedroom? The Talbot boasts 26 individual rooms, each one capturing the elegant spirit of a property that is steeped in history whilst offering modern amenities to ensure a comfortable stay.

Each room is unique in style, with sizes and capabilities to suit almost every need. From double rooms, to twin beds, or from an easily accessible room to a family suite, the Talbot Malton can accommodate. In each, you’ll find sumptuous beds, the finest linen, modern bright bathrooms and luxury toiletries, set to Vivien Greenock’s imaginative interior designs.

For the happy couple, the Nantclwyd Suite is wonderfully luxurious with four poster bed, views of the gardens, Victorian bath and walk in shower.
