The feel
Steeped in history Normanton Church retains a timeless architectural elegance. Deconsecrated in 1970, it offers a wonderful unique venue with its stunning design and water front location and is now available for civil ceremonies.
Its once threatened existence adds to the enchanting ambience of Normanton Church, which now stands a surviving treasure of the past. Saved from the reservoir floor, the only thing flooding this venue is light. The many windows illuminate the arched interior and offer picturesque views out across the water. Exquisite beauty radiates in waves from this grade II listed building, built in the classical style.
The church, originating from medieval times, was re-designed in 1826-9 by Thomas Cundy and his son, surveyors to the Grosvenor estate in Westminster.
A Rutland icon, Normanton Church is stylistically evocative and a truly novel civil ceremony venue. This setting is guaranteed to create cherished memories doused in romanticism. So, is it your dream to have a wedding on the water in one of the finest, most recognisable, buildings in the County of Rutland?
