Top Social Media Trends For 2023

NB: To help you browse our best suggestions we have included some third party links. Some purchases made through these links may earn us a commission to help keep our blogs and offers current and up to date. Thanks for your support!

Trends change all the time, especially when it comes to social media, with apps and software being updated all the time. So, it’s no surprise that there are a whole host of new trends to learn about and implement into your day-to-day business life in 2023. To lend you a helping hand, we thought we’d put together a blog to take you through some of our favourite trends in 2023 that you NEED to keep in mind!

Social Media Influencers Are Going Nowhere

Now, this may sound crazy, but the popularity of social media influencers rose dramatically during the pandemic, so it may be time to take a step back when it comes to pushing sales and focus more on posting ‘real’ content, with your partners for what the average social media user would probably say was more ‘engaging content’. People on socials want to see familiar faces and their favourite celebrities/influencers using the brands they know as it makes them feel more relatable. So, if you aren’t thinking about increasing your influencer-based content, think again – it could really help your online presence!

Charlotte’s Top Tip: Take some time out to do some research about big names in your industry that you could partner up with for great influencer content – you’ll thank us later!

Marketing For Gen Z

It’s no secret that the most prevalent generation on social media at the moment is Gen Z, they seem to have taken over just about every social media platform out there! So, as you can probably imagine, marketing to Gen Z is one of the biggest social media trends to follow in 2023. It may be time to think about shifting your marketing strategy to fit this demographic into your plan, as it seems that traditional forms of marketing don’t work as well with the younger generations (especially Gen Z). Incorporate other top trends into this plan by posting more video content (which only seems to be getting bigger) or using younger Gen Z social media influencers to help market your products and you’ll probably find you receive a much more positive response. It’s all about authenticity with Gen Z, they like companies to be ‘real’, so keep that in mind!

Charlotte’s Top Tip: If you aren’t already, get on Tik Tok! Gen Z responds really well to video content and Tik Tok is the best place for it!

Brands Being More Real

There is clearly a reoccurring pattern when it comes to trends in 2023, and it seems to be focussing on being ‘authentic’ as a brand. As we’ve already mentioned, social media users are calling for more ‘real’ content, that they feel like they can relate to, so it’s time to think about your audience more, and really learn about the kind of content they want to be seeing! People on social media right now are really looking to connect with brands that feel accessible to them, so taking the time to make sure your content is based on this ethos is more important than ever, as it seems younger generations find this content more engaging – and it’s also a great stance for your business to take. No hiding, just real, relatable people trying to run an authentic business!

Shopping Goes Virtual

We don’t know about you, but we’ve seen this coming for a while (especially post-pandemic)! It seems the future of shopping is primarily online-based, but there are no surprises there. Although, that doesn’t mean you can take a back seat just yet! With shopping going online, all brands are trying to make sure their customers can access their products and services via the internet, which of course means more competition. So, find your USP (Unique Selling Point) and do something different with your online shop (e.g., a fun loyalty card, special offers etc.). Of course, the most important thing is to HAVE an online shop – it allows the opportunity for followers to become new customers and ia great way to drive more sales and of course, more traffic to your website. So, keep that in mind!

The Rise of Video Content

Again, a reoccurring point that has already been made, but statistically, social media users find video content more engaging, so try your best to post as much as you can! It’s as simple as this, in this day and age, the best way to grow your business online is to post engaging, ‘real’ video content that your audience can relate to (and possibly with social media influencers involved for extra brownie points). Producing and publishing video content gives you the opportunity to tick all of the big trend boxes for 2023 – so honing your content creation skills to include this will massively benefit your business. Apps like Instagram (with reels and IGTVs) and Tik Tok are great for this!

Final Thoughts

Social media can be difficult to navigate if you don’t keep on top of the trends, especially when they’re this influential. Being up to date with the latest social media trends can make all the difference when it comes to business, so keep this blog in mind and make sure to do your trend research. Happy posting!
