The feel

Chiddingstone Castle is a hidden gem, nestling in the heart of the rolling Kent Weald and set within 35 acres of beautiful grounds, including a lake, rose garden and woodland. Situated in the National Trust village of Chiddingstone, this stunning Historic House is the perfect setting for your wedding.

With the Castle and grounds closed to the public during weddings, Chiddingstone Castle can offer exclusive use throughout the day.  There are three licensed areas; during summer months most couples opt for a ceremony in the grounds at The Orangery, followed by drinks on the formal raised lawn, before coming inside for the wedding breakfast and evening reception.

During the winter months, or in wet weather, the ceremony is conducted in the majestic Great Hall, a grand, formal room of Tudor heritage reflected in its oak panelling. The bridal couple sign the register at the 17th Century oak refectory table beneath the stained glass window.  An aisle is created from the Print Room behind and, following the ceremony, drinks and canapés can be served in the White Rose Drawing Room adjacent, a light and elegant room with breathtaking views of the Weald and walls hung with paintings of the Stuart monarchs.

Inside the castle, a range of guest numbers can be accommodated,  from smaller parties under 50 up to numbers of 80 for a wedding breakfast in the Great Hall, followed by an evening reception of up to 120.  A marquee can be erected in the grounds which gives you freedom to invite up to 120 guests for the full day from ceremony through to evening reception.

You can select your caterer from our list of recommended suppliers who attend to every detail of the catering. Their food is delicious and creative and they work closely to design a menu to suit your requirements. The Castle does not charge corkage and an evening pay bar can be set up on request.

At Chiddingstone Castle every wedding is unique; attention to detail is very evident, flexibility is key and the whole team make everyone feel calm, relaxed and at home.  By working with the bride’s choice of florist, photographer and stylist, the team of experienced, knowledgeable, friendly staff work professionally behind the scenes to make every occasion run seamlessly.
