A place whose seafront and beach shared the honours with the Eden Project for best regeneration has very obviously got plenty going for it. Seaham’s fascinating harbour, and its now lovely shore, a place that once captivated that figure of high romance Lord Byron (married in the town), offers plenty of scope to your wedding photographer – everyone loves the sea don’t they? And if you are looking for good marriage omens, consider Seaham’s church of St Mary the Virgin – one of the oldest in the country, surviving for perhaps 1300 years in spite of a cliff-top position that could be taken as symbolic.
