Market Harborough is a sizeable and historic market town, that history evidenced at the very heart of the settlement by the towering steeple of St Dionysius’s Church, according to some founded by John of Gaunt, and by the beautiful Old Grammar School atop its stilts – to allow the butter market to operate beneath. Sitting on the River Welland the town is surrounded by decidedly rural South Leicestershire countryside, once famed for fox hunting, and is within easy driving distance of Leicester itself, and of Coventry and Birmingham.
