The feel

Red House, a Grade II* Listed 1830s cloth merchant’s home is a delightful romantic setting for your wedding ceremony, featuring stunning period rooms and an enchanting restored period garden for your wedding photographs.

Now a museum, it is the former home of the Taylor family and has fascinating connections to the famous Brontë family. Author Charlotte Brontë visited often and featured Red House as Briarmains in her 1849 novel Shirley.

Ceremonies at Red House can take place in either the Parlour or the Hall, both are equally beautiful rooms with their own romantic atmosphere. For more intimate wedding ceremonies the Dining Room and the Study are available for very limited numbers, please discuss your requirements with our wedding coordinator. In addition the historic Cartsheds can be chosen for your ceremony.
