With its log fire, it is at the pivotal heart of the Castle, ensuring a warm and romantic feel for a wedding ceremony or drinks reception. The galleried Library, a forty foot high octagonal room with over 6,000 books, overlooks the River Esk and the magnificent Lakeland Fells. For smaller ceremonies, The Guard Room has an intimate and romantic atmosphere, with a barrel vaulted ceiling, Elizabethan fireplace, oak panelling and secret passage. The Drawing Room, with an ornate Italian plasterwork ceiling and large windows looking on to the Front Lawns can be used for the ceremony or wedding breakfast. The Family Dining Room resplendent with 18th century marquetry above the fireplace and wood pannelled walls, has a large bay window overlooking the Castle Front Lawns. This room is always bright and welcoming for guests to enjoy reception drinks, ceremonies or meals.The Formal Dining Room with rich green and gilt leather wall covering boasts bay windows overlooking the Ghyll, home to huge sweeping banks of rhododendron and exotic trees. The antique walnut table creates a stunning setting. The refurbished Old Laundry Function Room in the Gardens is available for evening receptions and parties. We also offer 4 star accommodation in the Gardens which sleep up to 29 guests.
