While those who live in or near the Ribble Valley may feel slightly reticent about letting the rest of the country in on its beauties, the area, and not least the fine town of Whalley, deserve to be far better known than they are. The riverside, a medieval church (though famed for its Saxon crosses), pretty centre, and the ruined Cistercian Abbey adding a decidedly historic note to the scene make the town exceptionally attractive; and the rolling Lancashire countryside dotted with solid farmsteads and some lovely country mansions and hotels don’t detract from that quality either. All weddings have romance about them, of course, but weddings in this setting will surely benefit from a bit more than most.
