As a wedding venue Sleat at the southern edge of the Isle of Skye has some very special qualifications. It’s not just the fantastic mountainous scenery (on its own island northwards and lent by neighbouring Rum) and ancient structures that provide the backdrop to what, for obvious reasons once you’re there, is often called the Garden of Skye, relatively flat compared to its surrounds. Nor the excellent accommodation and exciting eateries that have developed here on the strength of those natural wonders. Instead it is what, for Scots and lovers of all things Scottish, is the especially Celtic nature of the place, in that landscape, the buildings, and the people, with half the local population Gaelic speakers.
