The South West London suburb of Roehampton has been a favoured residential area for centuries, known in the Georgian era (from which it retains a wealth of architecture) as a place then well beyond the capital for the well-heeled to establish rather grand homes amid leafy parkland. Some of those buildings and parks remain, though often put to other uses these days – like the exclusive Roehampton Club famed for its sporting facilities, not the only such airy adornment in the area either, and various educational establishments. Those open spaces make this a prime venue for weddings nowadays, for couples wanting the metropolitan touch and the space of the country.
