7 Wedding Venues in Pontefract found
The West Yorkshire town of Pontefract is of course most readily associated with two things, both rather fun: the flat racing that takes place in the warmer months; and the little flat cakes of liquorice that bear the town’s name – though a castle where a king was killed should be up there too. Liquorice was brought here in the Tudor era according to some, though others reckon it was crusader knights who brought the plant back from the Holy Land. Surely a Pomfret cake or two should feature as a nibble or in your wedding breakfast menu if you marry in the town?
