Too often we skip over or even ignore our wonderful industrial history, something that simply can’t (and shouldn’t) be done in Newtongrange, whose mining heritage (and museum) is at the very heart of the settlement. It was mining that saw the place evolve from little more than a hamlet to a thriving village – indeed at one time Scotland’s largest mining village – and left a proud legacy of brass band music (or more accurately silver band music) too. The buildings from its mining prime retain real grandeur and power, great characteristics to channel into any wedding day.
