If you’re looking for a Scottish town in which to hold your wedding where there’s plenty of history and depth, then Musselburgh fits the bill. It was settled by the Romans (one of the town’s river bridges still perches on Roman foundations), boasts what is believed to be the oldest sporting trophy in Britain and the oldest continuously played golf course, and was a burgh before noisier neighbour Auld Reekie. Even more importantly to the wedding planner it’s a rather charming place from its harbour through to the pleasant countryside southwards, and for any bride charm is surely a vital component in a wedding venue.
