Though Montgomery is now a very small town, its past as the county town of Montgomeryshire is reflected in the many fine buildings from various eras adorning its streets, and indeed the beautiful surrounding countryside of the early Severn Valley and the hills above it. The church and castle, the latter now ruined, are both 13th century, but humbler structures from Tudor, Jacobean and Georgian times give it a lovely cosy blend of architecture. The area was once the property of the king, and as you are to be queen for the day of your wedding that seems only fitting!
