Greenford as a settlement dates back to at least the 9th century, a Saxon charter mentioning the place. What was then a little village in Middlesex got its present church in the 14th century, though it is highly probable that bits of an older structure were incorporated in this very rural looking, and certainly pretty, building. By contrast much of the suburb as it now exists dates from the interwar years, when the population expanded and so did the facilities for leisure and pleasure. So something of a best-of-both-worlds spot for a metropolitan wedding and a touch of the country.
