The solid old mill town of Glossop sits at the very edge of the Peak District National Park, the loweringly romantic Kinder Scout and the rugged Snake Pass framing the view to the southern part of the settlement. To the other side lies the thriving and vibrant city of big neighbour Manchester, though between the two places and indeed around most of Glossop are little villages built in the same warm stone as the largely Victorian town. The hills are a constant presence, but the town itself can provide plenty of green space too in Manor, Howard and Harehills Parks.
