It is not just the lovely old market town itself that makes Denbigh special, though it does boast the romantic ruins of its hilltop castle, sections of its old town walls and the quirky remains of what was intended to be a cathedral for the place in the 16th century. And that is without mentioning the bustling old streets here. Outside the town the countryside is rich and verdant, the rolling landscape broken up by patches of ancient woodland, dotted with tiny farm cottages and far grander mansions, little lanes taking the curious to some marvellously peaceful spots.
