It really doesn’t take much thinking to come up with some very good reasons for choosing to hold your wedding in Cyprus, one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean.
First and foremost there is the weather. Even at the height of a British summer there is no guarantee it won’t rain on your parade. You can’t guarantee sunshine in Cyprus either, but in the summer rain would be a surprise, and as the summer could be defined here as April to the end of October or into November you are not restricted to a July or August date with fingers crossed.
Thanks to our long association with the island, about three in every four Cypriots speaks English, and in the hospitality sector the number is going to be higher still, so arrangements are going to be easier than they could be elsewhere in the Med.
Foodies may feel a wedding breakfast with fine fish, seafood and great fresh salads, not to mention the famous local sticky desserts, is a better option than the danger of rubber chicken.
And then there is the location: this is the island that gave birth to Aphrodite, so it knows a thing or two about beauty. It enjoys some of the best beaches in the region, great for your pictures, for a pre-ceremony calm-the-nerves stroll, and for lazing around on if you decide to spend your honeymoon there too: beneath the palm trees on Phinikoudes Beach near Larnaca, on the fine golden sands of Agia Thekla near Agia Napa, on the quieter Kapparis Beach near Paralimni… Or if you have a thing against the sea, there’s always the Troodos mountains at the heart of the island.
So go a little bit Mamma Mia! and head to the sun for your big day: to Cyprus.
