Though Culross is in population a very small village, this former royal burgh has more to it architecturally than many towns a multiple of its size. Buildings of the 16th and 17th centuries, many lovingly restored by the Scottish National Trust, give it a very special ambiance – its little palace; the snuff-maker’s house; the particularly fine Town House; and The Study all of note. Some wedding planners may like the story of its foundation too – a welcoming home for a pregnant (and unmarried) princess, whose son went on to be one of Scotland’s great saints.
