5 Wedding Venues in Altrincham found
One (of several) very good reasons for holding your wedding in Altrincham is something that is as true now as it was a century and more ago – its excellent transport links. Back then it was the railways and the canal, today your guests may forego the watery arrival, but the railway is better than ever thanks to Metrolink, the motorway system passes the town to the south, and Manchester Airport is a taxi ride away for them (and for you heading off on honeymoon!).
That transport has made Altrincham effectively a suburb of Manchester, though it perhaps prefers to look towards rather posher Cheshire, to which it once belonged, as its spiritual home. And it is rather upmarket – with a market – with the centre including some very fine and very old buildings, matched by a wonderful Georgian mansion on its outskirts. If you fancy keeping up a charming local tradition, you could head for the Buttermarket area to declare your love before your big day – but be prepared for a few comments if you do that on the street. Maybe it’s best to try it in one of the many good local restaurants.
For those not aware of it, and to save embarrassment in conversations, Altrincham by the way is pronounced Altringum.
