The feel

Situated in the heart of Swansea Marina, the National Waterfront Museum is a superb choice for anyone wanting a creative space for a truly unique wedding.

The Museum is housed in a modern and impressive building which has won awards for its architecture. As well as being home to cutting edge exhibitions and imaginative events, it has extraordinary features, such as the Robin Goch, one of the earliest examples of aircraft in the UK suspended from the roof and a full size 19th century coal wagon – all of which enable it to be a venue for a distinctive wedding full of character and history.

The building combines old and new it is a Grade II listed dockside warehouse, coupled with an ultra-modern glass floor to ceiling windows and slate structure. The use of glass, allows vast amounts of light to gleam into the building, which as well as the Museum’s waterfront location, both provide the perfect backdrop for imaginative photography.

The Museum has a number of rooms that cater for weddings and civil partnerships of all sizes. Each room uses soft lighting as a contrast to the Museum’s striking industrial architecture.

For stylishly presented intimate ceremonies the Marina Balcony and Upper Foyer offer beautiful views of Swansea Marina and cater for up to 60 seated guests.

Ceremonies and receptions can also take place in the Museum’s Warehouse Gallery for up to 180 seated guests, amidst the backdrop of the exhibits.

The Courtyard Garden within the spacious grounds of the Museum provides the opportunity for a marquee for wedding receptions which can accommodate up to 200 people.

Larger receptions can also be held in Weston Hall for up to 230 seated guests under its magnificent glass canopy where couples can enjoy a dramatic backdrop to their reception.

Each room is a blank canvas that allows each couple to create their ideal wedding and decorate it as they see fit.

Wedding menus have been developed with award-winning arts/heritage specialist caterer, Elior UK Ltd, using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. Guests can also enjoy a range of canapés to suit all tastes, the innovative selection includes: St Fagans sausage, caramelised black pudding and apple to crispy Pembrokeshire potato, Caerphilly cheese and chive.
