Once the residence of the first Sir Winston Churchill, our house later became home to the Digby family. Today, it retains the original Churchill tapestries and furniture, adding unique historical charm to your celebration. Imagine sharing your vows in the magnificent Trafalgar Hall, named in honor of Henry Digby, Captain of the HMS Africa during the Battle of Trafalgar. With its floor-to-ceiling mullioned windows, barrel-vaulted ceilings, and awe-inspiring paintings, Trafalgar Hall is perfect for your wedding breakfast and evening entertainment, offering exceptional acoustics for bands and DJs.

As a private home, we do not accommodate back-to-back weddings, allowing us to focus entirely on your special day. From your initial enquiry to the final moments of your celebration, our dedicated wedding coordinator will be with you every step of the way, ensuring your day runs seamlessly and is exactly as you envisioned.

Beautiful Ceremony and Reception Spaces

Imagine exchanging your vows surrounded by the picturesque beauty of Minterne House. We are licenced for civil ceremonies both within the house and on the South Lawn, offering you flexibility in choosing the perfect setting. For a traditional church ceremony, St. Andrew’s Church is just a short walk away, providing an intimate setting for up to 60 guests. Alternatively, the larger St. Mary’s Church in the neighbouring village of Cerne Abbas offers a grander setting for your ceremony.

Inside Minterne House, Trafalgar Hall can seat up to 100 guests for a wedding breakfast and accommodate up to 160 for ceremonies. For larger guest lists, a marquee can be hired to host the wedding breakfast and evening festivities. Our beautiful dining room, adorned with a fabulous chandelier and a bay window overlooking the lawn and lake, is a popular choice for indoor ceremonies. The garden room offers a cosy reception area perfect for guests who wish to relax away from the main event, while the Tapestry Room is ideal for serving breakfast to guests staying in the main house.

Luxurious Accommodation and Amenities

Extend the celebration with luxurious accommodation for up to 48 guests across our estate, including a sumptuous wedding suite available for two nights as part of the venue hire. We love hosting wedding weekends and can create bespoke packages to include events surrounding your big day, ensuring your wedding is a memorable, extended celebration.
