The feel

Nestled in the rolling hills of West Dorset stands Mapperton, family home to the Earl & Countess of Sandwich. Undiscovered, exclusive and wildly romantic, Mapperton was voted the UK’s finest manor house by Country Life magazine.

You have exclusive use of the grounds, gardens, Orangery and Coach House on your wedding day. The sprawling gardens descend from the main lawn through to the formal topiary and down to the wild garden, offering an outstanding unspoilt landscape and fantastic framing for your wedding photography.

Built in 1670, the recently refurbished Coach House at Mapperton offers a unique space which can accommodate up to 120 seated guests. The meticulous renovation has retained historic features, including exposed stonework, lath & plaster surfaces and full height ceilings with original trusses and cross-beams. A new biomass heating system ensures plenty of warmth on colder days, while a high definition 4k projector, professional sound system and controllable lighting brings the venue into the 21st century for wedding speeches and toasts as well wedding day entertainment.

Alongside the main space is a second large room contains a fully-stocked & licensed bar, included in our venue fee. While the Coach House will impress with its historic features and enduring charm, it is an entirely flexible space which can be decorated in a range of styles. It is also one of the options for your ceremony location.

The Mapperton Weddings team are always happy to talk through your plans for a perfect wedding day, for larger events we recommend a marquee in addition to the Coach House and have fantastic suppliers who can guide you to the right options to suit your day. Why not call to arrange a visit soon?
