Our Castle is steeped in a rich history; Shakespeare’s sonnet 127 “The Dark Lady” refers to Anne Vavasour of Hazlewood, Hazlewood features in the Domesday book, and the Castle was formerly a Maternity Hospital in WW1. Whether you’re a historian or not, there’s a special feeling in the Castle that, we’re sure, is thanks to this lavish past – feel it for yourself on your next visit!

In 1997 Hazlewood Castle was sensitively restored and converted into a fabulous destination, offering luxury accommodation, stunning grounds and an award-winning restaurant. Outdoor activities and a relaxing day spa can also be enjoyed, all with excellent service that makes every event a truly memorable occasion.

The Great Hall

This spectacular south-facing oasis, overlooking the stunning view of Towton Moor, is mediaeval at its boldest. With classical inspiration, great columns, a marble fireplace, alcoves framing large statues, and a high ceiling where oval medallions decorated with over fifty coats of armour encircle the room, you’ll feel  no less than the royalty of the Castle during your wedding breakfast celebration. This location comfortably lends itself to up to 130 guests.

The Old Dining Room

East of the Great Hall sits The Old Dining Room. The natural daylight and exquisite fireplace make this room very special indeed. The stunning Old Bar adjoins and so a glass of champagne after the big moment is but a few small steps away – perfect.

The Woodland Venue

Our woodland wedding venue is a special one. Have you ever seen those photos on Instagram where the happy couple are having their first married photos taken under a tree laced with fairy lights in the middle of the woods? Ever seen those photos where the wedding bar is romantically wrapped around a tree? Ever seen those snaps of pizza ovens in the forest catering the late night munchies at the wedding party?

Well. They’re at Hazlewood’s Woodland Wedding Venue. And this venue seems to be the topic of conversation for nearly-weds at the moment. With a woodland wedding package, your bar is a tree bar, your pizza comes from a purpose built outdoor oven, and your civil ceremony takes place on a charming pagoda surrounded by towering sequoia trees. Your party happens either on an outdoor dance floor or inside a tipi, and you’re engulfed in nature’s finest. Outdoor weddings are becoming more and more popular, and we know why!

St Leonard’ Chapel

Built in 1286, St Leonard’s Chapel is situated to the East of the Castle. Complete with a palladian altarpiece, fine fretwork and stunning decorated glass windows, this setting is ideal for those wanting a wedding blessing. With its own piano, superb acoustics and gallery, the Chapel offers an ambiance conducive to larger traditional gatherings.

The Victoria Room

Located in the far South West of the Castle, The Victoria Room is a royal-looking golden haven. With its hooded stone fireplace, panelled woodwork, grade I listed metallic wallpaper and glistening natural light streaming in from both sides, this room is picture perfect.

The Clear Garden Marquee

Party on the lawns and in our stunning Clear Garden Marquee. Should you want an event with more guests, our Clear Garden Marquee may be your choice. The Garden Marquee is the absolute queen of venues. It holds a huge 450 guests at maximum capacity and it really does capture the essence of an outdoor wedding but with all the indoor comforts. The fire pits, heating lanterns, outdoor seating, ‘Caravan Bar’ and street-style food stalls create an incredibly social atmosphere – it almost becomes your own city! Visit the stalls and the bar, bounce from one seating area to the dance floor to the cherry blossom avenue, listen to the live music; it’s all yours. Oh, and at night, it turns into a fiery orange party that glows far into the distance.  This venue is very popular for dry hire and Asian weddings.
