The feel

The setting here is magical with the salt marsh, beautiful paths leading off to the tranquil sea, and a vast sky that seemingly starts at your feet. The windmill dates to 1713 and was converted into a house in the 1920s. The windmill is available for weddings, should you wish to entertain your guests in a unique and magical setting.

Square rooms are bigger and suit those who prefer to shuffle, while round rooms in the tower are impossibly romantic. Six rooms are in the mill and you really want to go for these, though the cottage is set up for self-catering and visiting dogs. Inside, you find the loveliest drawing-room – low ceiling, open fire, honesty bar, stripped floorboards… and a window seat to beat most others.

The ceremony takes place in our beautiful round Sitting Room for which we hold the wedding license. We aim to gear the entire day around exactly what you want – some people prefer a small and informal affair, others like something slightly larger and more formal. If you would just like to enjoy the unique experience of having your ceremony in a Windmill but are planning a larger reception elsewhere, we are very happy to accommodate this. We would ask that you organise the ceremony for 2.00pm and you have the use of the Sitting Room and the Reception Room from 1.30pm – 4.30pm.

This gives you time after the ceremony to enjoy a glass of champagne and canapes which will be served in the Windmill Dining Room and to take photographs. You are welcome to use the balcony or the garden for these. If you would like tea or even a Norfolk Cream Tea again we would be happy to do this. We look forward to hearing from you.
