WISE is an award-winning licensed wedding venue with outstanding sustainability credentials. Situated in the stunning Dulas valley in mid-Wales at the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) CAT offers an unparalleled wedding venue, based in a beautiful seven acre site, overlooking the mountains and surrounded by nature. For the last 40 years CAT, an educational charity, has inspired, informed and enabled practical solutions for sustainable living. Weddings are an acknowledgement of a couple choosing building their future together and for many that means building a sustainable future. What better way to do that, than making sure your wedding does not cost the earth.

As an environmental charity we want our weddings to be sustainable and affordable. No two weddings are the same at CAT, from small and intimate to large and lavish our wedding service is always unique We offer fantastic rates and simply want to make you happy and relaxed on your big day allowing you to enjoy the celebrations knowing that we are taking care of everything- including the environment. Our carbon lite ceremonies are powered by 100% renewable electricity and if you use our catering services local, organic food and drink.

Our facilities include a 200 seater rammed earth theatre, restaurant and catering for up to 200 people, bar and reception area, 24 ensuite rooms plus further accommodation available throughout the site, organic and forest gardens, water powered cliff railway and much more.

Katy Jones, 32, of Aberdyfi, held a ceremony at CAT this year. She described it as “the perfect setting for our ceremony and very intimate, the acoustics were like the Albert Hall.” Katy, who married engineer Aled Jones, 37, added: “The outdoor forest garden is an ideal setting for a champagne reception and the restaurant and bar are perfect for the wedding breakfast and dancing the night away. “We loved every part of our wedding. The food was beautiful, organic and local and all our guests commented on how smoothly the day went, they really enjoyed being in such a bright and natural space.”
