As the flowers start to bloom, the leaves change colours and the temperature starts to (slowly but surely) warm-up, it only makes sense that the styles of dress trending during the seasons change! And for Spring 2023, things are looking breezy. Whether you’re looking for something light and flowy to suit the weather, or you’re looking for a dramatic feather-adorned piece as an avid trendsetter, there’s well and truly something for everyone out there.
So, we thought it would be best to put together a list of a few (that’s an understatement) spring wedding dresses for your inspiration, to make your life that little bit easier!
What Is A Spring Wedding Dress?
There’s no right or wrong answer to this question, as a Spring wedding dress is only what you want your dream dress to look like. However, as it does tend to warm up more between March and June (which is officially springtime), we would recommend ditching the extra layers to save breaking a sweat (although, transitional pieces such as overskirts and capes are set to trend in 2023). Ultimately, we would say that spring wedding dresses tend to be more breezy and light, unlike winter wedding dresses which tend to be much bigger and heavy for extra added warmth! And they’re perfect if you’re planning a destination wedding too, as they tend to be made from less material, and can also be used for summer weddings too!
We spoke to Sylvia Matthews, from Sylvia Matthews Bridal about what the typical bride is looking for in 2023 (spring specifically) and this is what she had to say:
“Lots of brides coming to the showroom are asking for long sleeves at the moment. For the more modest look, and to cover old tattoos! They also like fun, fit, floral, and and flirty dresses. For the millennials, they like something with more drama, for example details being in the bodice with illusion mesh and lots of appliques. Similarly the ballgown never goes out of fashion as it gives the drama and extra wow factor. Brides continue to add crowns for that princess look and longer veils to top it all off “
Well there you have it, long sleeves seem to be very popular at the moment, and if you’re looking for a ballgown, you’re in luck, as Sylvia has a fantastic collection of gowns to choose from! Although as we’ve already mentioned, you can wear what you want to your spring wedding, as long as you feel beautiful, that’s all that matters!
7 Dress Trends For Spring 2022
As with any new year and season, the trends seem to change with the leaves and bring about new dress styles that all the brides will be looking to wear. From fancy feathers to dramatic v necks, here are a few of our favourite Spring 2023 wedding dress trends:
- Fancy Florals: Think floral embroidery, patterns and sequins to fit your very own floral fantasy, perfect for a Spring wedding if you asked us!
- Dramatic Feathers: If you’re looking for a bit of drama, look no further, feather’s are the way to go in Spring 2023.
- Sexy V-Necklines: Feeling more of a daring look on your big day? Try a dress with a sexy, deep v-neckline for a change!
- Balloon Puff Sleeves: Clearly, Spring 2023 is all about the drama as puff sleeves are back on the scene (they never left really) and we’re obsessed!
- Mini Dresses: Now, we know what you’re thinking, a short dress on your big day, but trust us when we say, don’t knock it until you try it!
- Corset Bodice: Corseted bodices have been on trend for quite a while now, and it doesn’t seem to be leaving anytime soon!
- Co-ords: If you fancy wearing a wedding dress alternative for your special day, keep your eyes peeled for a gorgeous co-ord, we love them!
Do any of these trends tickle your fancy? We think the styles of dress looking to trend in the spring of 2023 sound absolutely fantastic, and you’ll be happy to know there are a wide variety of gorgeous gowns available both in-store and online that fit these descriptions. Stylist, Bethany Chapman (Bethany Chapman Styling) had the privilege of attending Bridal Fashion Week, and confirmed that these trends are the “newest and hottest trends in bridal fashion”. How exciting does that sound!
