Whether looking for a wedding venue in Edinburgh has crossed your mind for your big day or not, the beauty of this Scottish city is undeniable, and if you’re looking for a city centre location that not only has plenty of romantic wedding venues as well as ample activities for your guests to get excited about then this stunning Scottish city should be a serious contender for your big day.

Before being converted into the beautiful place it is today, it was once 170 year old place of prayer called Lady Glenorchy Church.

7. The Merchant's Hall

Another stunning venue located right in the heart of the city centre (the best place to be), The Merchant’s Hall and their dedicated team of staff are there to cater for you and up to 150 guests if you book your wedding day here! And their court rooms are also made to cater to smaller weddings if that’s more your style.

With history dating back to at least 1620, the company in charge was once used as a place to look after the cities water supply, which eventually resorted in them becoming one of the biggest landowners in Scotland – The Merchant’s Hall being one of their primary homes. Talk about being a piece of Scottish history, if you’re a lover of the olden times, The Merchant’s Hall could just be the venue of your dreams.

8. Craigmillar Castle

A historic Scottish landmark that has earned it’s place in many traveller’s guides and leaflets about the city, even if you don’t choose to get married here, it’s somewhere you simply can’t leave Edinburgh without visiting! Craigmillar Castle, known as Edinburgh’s ‘Other Castle’, coming in close second to the infamous Edinburgh Castle of course, has a rich history (that’s an understatement). Even being used as a safe haven by Mary Queen of Scots before her imprisonment in 1566.

11. Mansfield Traquair

If you’re a fan of Victorian history, The Old Dr Bells Bath located in Leith, just outside of Edinburgh city centre, could just be the wedding venue of your wildest dreams. But don’t let it’s historical background fool you, as its also the epitome of modern luxury. What was once a Victorian swimming baths is now a stunning space for your special day!

With high vaulted ceiling windows, the natural light bathes the space in a way that can only be described as magical, which is a vibe we can imagine only a select few couples would turn down (no judgement here of course). 14. The Hub

Described as ‘one of the most striking buildings’ on Edinburgh’s infamous Royal Mile by it’s many visitors, The Hub is a fantastic space to spend you special way. And while they aren’t currently accepting bookings due to COVID-19 restrictions, it’s a venue worth keeping your eyes peeled for!

Located within Edinburgh’s Old Town (famous for it’s cobbled streets plus a wide variety of shops, restaurants and ghost tours – which we couldn’t recommend more), this stunning building couldn’t get any better in our opinion.

15. Royal Botanic Garden

Is there anywhere more magical than a botanical garden to spend your special day? We don’t think so (although Edinburgh is famous for being very magical, especially if you’re a Harry Potter fan), and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is a perfect example! And they’re also located right in the middle of Edinburgh, so you don’t have to worry about long travels either, unless you live outside of Edinburgh of course, but that goes without saying.

The Botanic Garden boasts 6 stunning wedding spaces to spend you big day in, whether that be your ceremony or your reception (or both). From the John Muir Grove which is surrounded by cedarwood for an outdoor wedding with a cathedral-like atmosphere, to the John Hope Getaway which is a sustainable space with both indoor and outdoor ceremony rooms and views of the garden – there is well and truly something for everyone!

16. The Signet Library

Originally built as St Thomas Episcopal Church, the building was restored so as to keep as much of the original architecture as possible, with a modern touch.

18. Dundas Castle

With space for up to 110 people for an indoor ceremony or 200 outdoors, it’s safe to say you wedding is set to be big and bold.
